Nathaniel Susan-Crowchild is a proud member of Tsuut’ina Nation, building a career rooted in service, strategy, and a deep commitment to Indigenous excellence in the workplace. With a growing portfolio in human resources, sustainability, and Indigenous engagement, Nathaniel brings energy, professionalism, and cultural insight to every role he takes on.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society at the University of Calgary, Nathaniel pairs academic learning with hands-on experience, having held positions in government, the energy sector, and hospitality—all while maintaining a strong connection to community. He has worked with organizations such as Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, Pieridae Energy, and Tamarack Valley Energy, where he contributed to HR operations, ESG reporting, policy development, and Indigenous-specific projects.
In his current role as an HR Business Partner Trainee at Grey Eagle Casino, Nathaniel supports employee relations, benefits, return-to-work accommodations, and company-wide initiatives aimed at Indigenizing workplace culture. His work includes supporting internal communication strategies and creating tools that improve recruitment and performance management systems.
Nathaniel’s strengths extend beyond policy and process—he is a skilled facilitator, collaborator, and problem-solver who values respectful communication and cultural relevance in all professional settings. His leadership is grounded in his lived experience as an Indigenous youth and emerging professional, and he brings a strong understanding of the barriers and opportunities facing Indigenous Peoples in urban and corporate contexts.
In 2023, Nathaniel was appointed to the Treaty 7 Student Advisory Council, a role that allows him to contribute his voice to broader conversations around Indigenous student experience and representation. His involvement reflects his growing role as a community connector and advocate for Indigenous youth leadership and systemic change.
