Gregory John
Entrepreneur, Strategist, and Indigenous Innovation Champion
Gregory John is a proud Cree Métis business leader whose work sits at the powerful intersection of economic reconciliation, technology, and inclusive innovation. With more than a decade of experience in Indigenous and stakeholder relations, Greg is widely recognized for his bold leadership, sharp strategic thinking, and unwavering advocacy for Indigenous inclusion in Canada’s energy and tech sectors.
Greg and Anne Harding have been delivering custom Indigenous procurement and economic reconciliation training sessions together since 2023. Their collaboration reflects a shared commitment to moving beyond performative reconciliation and helping organizations understand the structural, practical, and relational changes required to build equitable partnerships with Indigenous communities.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and is pursuing an Executive MBA at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. His approach to business is as rigorous as it is relational—turning blank Excel spreadsheets into strategic tools, closing negotiation loops with care and clarity, and always centering Indigenous perspectives in policy, procurement, and economic opportunity.
A serial entrepreneur, Greg is the founder and CEO of Four Peaks Business Development and Unimaize Technologies Inc., an Indigenous-owned tech company whose mission is to “build and share Indigitech across Turtle Island.” His leadership has attracted national and international recognition, and his companies are redefining what it means to build equitable and inclusive ecosystems in Alberta’s tech and energy sectors.
Greg’s career has earned him notable recognition, including the 2020 JWN Energy Rising Star Award, which celebrated his contributions to Canada’s energy industry as a proud Indigenous and LGBTQ2+ professional. In 2021, he was named a finalist for both the Global Energy Show Emerging Leader Award and the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) Business Advocate of the Year. He has served on the CGLCC’s inaugural BIPOC Entrepreneurial Advisory Council, as well as the Global Energy Show Executive Steering Committee and IoT North’s Executive Steering Committee.
Greg is also a community builder and mentor. He founded the Strathmore Rural Gay-Straight Alliance Summit, a first-of-its-kind initiative in rural Canada, and has raised nearly $500,000 for nonprofits and grassroots initiatives through Four Peaks Business Development. His leadership extends to the Calgary Police Indigenous Advisory Board and numerous national policy and advocacy circles.
Greg’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that authenticity is power. Whether designing large-scale economic solutions, launching tech startups, or facilitating workshops with Forum Community Relations, he brings his full self—strategic, spirited, and unapologetically bold.
Gregory John is not just building companies. He’s building futures—where Indigenous Peoples are full partners in Canada’s economy and where reconciliation is lived through action, innovation, and shared prosperity.
